Member Lines serving within IADA have conducted thorough review of reefer container handling charges they have incurred at Japanese ports with the aim of implementing ‘Reefer Japan THC’ guideline.

Accordingly, it is IADA’s recommendation to apply Reefer Japan THC (both import and export) at the following levels, based on the justifiable cost survey, with effect from 1st August, 2010:-

JPY.34,000/TEU
JPY.48,000/FEU

IADA also recommended to provide current and two following months advance notice period prior to implementation so as not to unduly impair users’ interests as a result of the THC implementation.

As a discussion agreement, it should be clearly noted that the recommendation is posed to individual IADA Members, on a voluntary, non-binding basis. Any IADA Members are free to voluntarily follow the recommendation on an individual basis or take independent actions not only in terms of quantum but also effective dates through individual negotiations between customers and Members.
